Are there kids who love the bed? There may be children who urinate when they fall asleep. Or kids who love to drink their milk on their bed?
It will be a big headache if you want to clean up the mattress because the liquid would have seep into your precious bed. Ideally, one should ensure that the bed is washed or dry washed properly and sanitation maintained. Even if it doesn’t the smell from these liquid will be unbearable in the long run. There are mattresses available in the market wherein water does not seep inside. Many of these mattress pads are inexpensive and one could dry them by simply using the requisite apparatus. The spring mattress is water-resistant and prevents water from seeping inside the mattress.
A water proof mattress also has certain disadvantages. Since, there is restriction of air, the mattress pad does not feel very cool. You see, mattresses need tiny air-holes in order to make the mattresses cool when we are sleeping. The water proof mattress gets completely blocked and air is not able to enter inside.
Some companies reduce this problem by having deeper ridges in the mattress to allow air to pass thru the gaps.
Even with this trade-off, these mattress pads are still very much in demand in the market today.
